Introducing Belmont Chiropractor Dr. Stephen Treloar

When I began in chiropractic I wish that I had known then what I know now! Like most young men I thought that I knew better than everyone else and no one was going to tell me what to do. As long as I could go for a surf and do my own thing, that was all I cared about.

When the time came to decide on a career path, I was out of ideas and had little insight into what the future would hold. It was my mum who made the suggestion to become a chiropractor  My dad has multiple sclerosis and gives credit to the regular care he received during those years for his long remission. Our local chiropractor helped my father enormously. "You could be like Dr. Goldby" she said. I had been to Dr. Goldby a few times myself, for some sports related problems. I had gotten relief and I could visualize myself doing this for others.
"What a great idea. Thanks mum!"

In 1978 I enrolled in the School of Chiropractic at what is now the Bundoora campus of RMIT University in Melbourne. This involved 5 years of study including basic sciences, anatomy and physiology in addition to the main chiropractic classes. I graduated as a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chiropractic in 1983. After uni I pursued further study in key chiropractic innovations such as Activator Methods and SOT, serving for a number of years on the teaching team for SOTO A/sia at their Melbourne seminar series. "I feel privileged to have helped coach a new generation of chiropractors in some of the methods that I have found so effective over the years."

Put simply, I believe that regular care of the spine is an essential part of everybody's health plan. At Stephen Treloar Chiropractic, I have assembled a contemporary, low force approach to spinal care that is comfortable and safe, yet effective for the restoration of spinal health. Rest assured, if yours is not a chiropractic case I will tell you.

Living on a small acreage in the Surfcoast hinterland, Dr. Treloar enjoys family life with his four children and Mary-Clare, his wife of sixteen years. "I still enjoy  going down the coast, when time permits. Despite the demands of a busy family and professional life, I try to find the time to recharge and connect with the bigger picture of things."

"As a family we all enjoy the benefits of chiropractic care. All of the kids have been adjusted since birth and are full of vitality and energy, hardly a sick day among them."

Dr. Steve Asks some important questions of interest to Belmont-Geelong residents - Chiropractor Belmont-Geelong Dr. Steve Asks...

How come medical doctors don't recommend chiropractic?
That's changing. Years of prejudice and bias are giving way to research showing the benefits of chiropractic care. As more and more Belmont-Geelong folks seek alternatives to drugs and surgery, more and more medical practitioners are referring their patients to chiropractors.
Why are frequent visits advised when starting chiropractic care?
Consistent visits at the beginning of your chiropractic care help create the momentum necessary to correct and retrain unhealthy spinal patterns. Later, Belmont-Geelong patients find that continued care on a less frequent visit schedule can help preserve their progress and avoid a relapse.
